“Art shouldn’t be isolated. It should be everywhere – in schools, in kindergartens and especially in working-class neighbourhoods. It is a small mission of mine to integrate more art and design into every aspect of life.”
Anna Kiryakova graduated from an art school with a painting profile in the city of Kazanlak, Bulgaria and holds a master’s degree in ceramics from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Since 15 years she is living and working as a jeweler in Berlin and has her own studio and gallery in Berlin Wedding.
She develops her practice as a play between materials, light and shadow, fragility and durability, object and everyday jewelry, perfection and incompleteness. Materials such as porcelain in combination with the inner tube of a bicycle, non-corresponding materials that do not touch each other in life come together in harmony. Her way of working has a more sculptural approach than classical goldsmithing. Each object is unique, in working with porcelain she uses glaze only as an accent, the raw structure of the material contrasts with the glossy surface of gold and silver.
