Areeba is a Pakistani designer based in Berlin, working across design, community and culture. She uses product, experience and graphic design to explore how certain design enables and disables relationships between humans and non-humans.
She is currently exploring the relationship between design, food and community. Her recent project, More Than Dinner, is an experimental dining experience that uses unconventional eating tools to propose alternative ways of enjoying food together. Drawing from South Asian knowledge and practices of communal eating, the designed objects disrupt individualistic eating patterns and require diners to collaborate in order to eat.
Through play and interdependence in her work, she explores ways in which design can make space for different ways of knowing, doing and being together.
