Emilio Gabriele Agamennone
Agamennone’s spiritual thought, deep connection with nature, and ecological lifestyle are reflected in a site-specific object combining aesthetics and functionality, expressing community and sharing. The project’s essential lines shape an individual reflection that invites participation.
I am an artisan artist. I primarily create raw wood structures in natural settings, such as ornamental or practical pieces for gardens and orchards, which are the environments I live in. My life is based on the principles of self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability, which have led me to work mainly with wood, a living material that surrounds me and with which I am in constant contact. The connection with wood has taught me to listen to its vibration, which guides me in transforming raw material into an artistic work that, once again, becomes part of nature in a harmonious way.
Used material, technique, support:
Arizona pine and cypress logs from felling and pruning, fir boards re- covered from a disused construction site. The processing and dec- oration follows the grain and knots already present on the trunk to emphasise the natural ‘design’. The painting is done with water-based varnish and the only structural element not recovered are the screws used for assembly.
Artwork Description:
Seduta Naturale is a hexagonal outdoor table with a bench that fol- lows the same design. The shape is inspired by the cells of the bee- hive, which allows for an optimisation of space and evokes the di- mension of being together as a natural society. In the center of the table is a space intended to accommodate a tree, with the creation of an interlocking frame in succession. In view of the tree’s growth, a section of the central space can be removed. The material chosen, the shapes and the diners it accommodates reflect the aim of my pro- ductions: to emphasize man’s connection to nature in a form of deep spiritual ecology.
