GIulio Patrizi
Giulio’s contemporary tapestry, not a decorative piece, but rather a fabric that serves as a manifesto, a denunciation of the female condition. A direct, straightforward, graphic mark embraced within the space of the handkerchiefs that closes the “white space,” defining the time of the narrative in a comic.
Used material, technique, support:
The chromatic tapestry is made with six reclaimed fabrics knotted and sewn together to emphasize the bond that unites these contemporary victims. Each handkerchief represents an “offence” that the dominant man assigns to the victim. The six handkerchiefs are dyed with red wine, a memory of the blood of Christ, the sacrificial victim in which the daily lives of these women are reflected.
Artwork Description:
Give martyrs, victims of patriarchal societies, all united by the deprivation of their own freedom. Women considered objects to be used at will. Women forbidden education, made slaves and prisoners, to whom their mouths or even their genital organs are mutilated. Women forbidden to speak, subordinate to the will of men, whether father, husband, or brother.
