Tanja Haramincic
Haramincic’s technique celebrates circularity. Used ceramic objects are deliberately de- stroyed, crushed, and reused, reassembled endlessly. The choice of the circle evokes this process, where the material bears witness to the gesture in a kind of action design.
The innovative process of upcycling fired and unused ceramics embarks on a long journey to breathe new life into discarded materials. This collection of ceramic earthenware coasters enhances circularity in ceramics production. The white surfaces contain shards of colorful ceramics as well as smaller particles of powdered and crushed fired ceramics that give the pieces a “terrazzo” look. It includes test tiles and unsuccessful as well as broken pieces that are not necessary to the production and would otherwise remain unused in the creation process. The handmade production of these pieces supports creative randomness in the choice of fragments to be used for their realization.

Artwork Description:
This work stems from the discovery of a Lomography camera similar to the “disposable” ones, with the original roll of film still inside, never started, expired several years ago and stored in poor conditions. The camera was given to me by a relative, then forgotten in a backpack and found at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, when I was stuck in Sicily due to the lockdown. I decided to shoot the entire film in a short time, photographing what was around me and myself. The prints obtained were then glued onto a home delivery box for fruit.
